Nifty interactive data tool from Chronicle of Higher Ed

Ok, so it’s not new, but I still think this is awfully nifty:

“Where Does Your Freshman Class Come From?”

I think this is a good example of a fairly simple interactive data visualization tool. What do you think? Does looking at this data in this way, rather than in endless spreadsheets or even bar charts, make it easier to understand, and to think about how it might be put to use?

FYI — This may or may not have been created via Processing, which I hope Adrienne will post about in the future as I can’t wait to learn more about it….
